Use the Associations tab in the
Firms hub to create and maintain lists of the
opportunities,
projects, and other
firms that are associated with a
firm.

Firm hierarchies are enabled in
.

This [firm] only: Select this option to only display records directly associated to this
firm. This option applies to both the
Opportunities and
Projects grids. This option displays when a
firm hierarchy is established.
-
This [firm] and all lower levels of the hierarchy: Select this option to display all records associated to this record and any records associated to records lower in the hierarchy from this
firm. For example, you are viewing a parent
firm and want to see all associations of the current
firm as all associations of
firms that are children to the current
firm. This option applies to both the
Opportunities and
Projects grids. This option displays when a
firm hierarchy is established.
Note that if the
firm's
Status is
Inactive,
Dormant, or
Terminated, the Inactive Contact dialog box displays when you attempt to associate a project or opportunity record. Use this dialog box to change the status to
Active if needed.
Much of the information for
DPS is entered and displayed in grids on various forms. For information about using grids, see
Working with Grids.
Field | Description |
Opportunities Grid
|
This grid displays the
opportunities with which the
firm is associated. You can establish the association of an
opportunity to the
firm by selecting the
opportunity in this grid or by selecting the
firm in the
Firms grid on the Team tab for the
opportunity in the
Opportunities hub. If you add, edit, or delete information in this grid, that change is also reflected in the
Firms grid for the
opportunity. To add another
opportunity association, click
+ Add
Opportunity below the grid.

Name
|
This column displays the name of the
opportunity. Click the name to display a tooltip containing
opportunity information. Click
More in the tooltip to display the full
opportunity record on a separate browser tab. (If the row is in edit mode, you cannot display the tooltip. In that case, click anywhere outside the row to take it out of edit mode and then click the name.)
To specify an
opportunity for a new association, type one or more characters from the
opportunity name to select from a list of
opportunities whose names contain those characters. Click
+ Add
Opportunity and select
to select from the full list of
opportunities.

Stage
|
This field displays the pipeline stage to which the
opportunity is currently assigned (for example, Lead,
Proposal, Awarded, Lost, and so on). The Stage is assigned in the
Opportunities hub.

Open Date
|
This column displays the date the
opportunity was opened (the date on which you identified the
opportunity and began pursuing the job).
|
Type
|
This column displays whether the firm is a client or vendor for this opportunity. For example:
- If the
Firm Type is set to
Client, the
firm's type for the
opportunity defaults to
Client.
- If the
Firm Type is set to
Vendor, the
firm's type for the
opportunity defaults to
Vendor.
- If the
Firm Type is set to
Client and
Vendor, or neither, you must select a
Type in this field.
The
Firm Type that is specified in this field dictates the options that are available in the
Role field. For example, if the
Firm Type is set to
Client, then the
Role options are
Subcontractor
and
Client. Or, if the
Firm Type
is set to
Vendor, the
Role options are
Architect,
Cost Estimating, and so on. Your system administrator defines these options.

Role
|
This column displays the
firm's role in relation to the
opportunity, such as
Mechanical Engineer
or
Transportation
Supervisor. The options that display depend on the
Firm Type. To select a different role, click
in this field and select one from the drop-down list.

Role Description
|
This column displays a more detailed description of the
firm's role on the
opportunity.
Click
if you want to use a text editor to apply special formatting to the description, or if you want to display the complete text of a longer description.

Opportunity
|
To associate another
opportunity with the
firm, click this link and select the
opportunity from the drop-down list.
Opportunities that are already associated with the
firm are automatically excluded from the drop-down list.

Projects Grid
This grid displays the
projects associated with the
firm. You can establish the association of a
project to the
firm by selecting the
project in this grid or by selecting the
firm in the
Firms grid on the Team tab for the
project in the
Projects area. If you add, edit, or delete information in this grid, that change is also reflected in the
Firms grid for the
project. To add another
project association, click
+ Add
Project below the grid and use the drop-down lists to select
project information.

This column displays the name of the
project.

contact, role, description, and status. Click

This column displays whether the firm is a client or vendor for this opportunity. For example:

Vendor.
- If the
Firm Type is set to
Client and
