Export Planning Data to a .CSV File

When you run the export process from Utilities > Imports & Exports > Exports, DPS exports project planning information--that can include llabor assignment and also expense and consultant data--into a .CSV (comma-separated values) file.

You must have access to Resource Planning, as well as view access to the project plan data that you wish to export. Also, FILESTREAM (a Microsoft SQL Server feature) must be enabled.

To export planning data to a .CSV file:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Utilities Imports & Exports > Exports.
  2. On the Export Form, click the Planning Data link to open the Export Planning Data dialog box.
  3. On the search filter, click to display the drop-down list of standard or saved searches (All, Office, Region. or others). Depending on which search you choose, DPS limits or extends the list of available projects that you can select in the Projects drop-down list. Therefore, you should always filter the search list before you select the projects and planning data that you want to export.
  4. In Projects, click , and either select one or multiselect any number of projects available in the list.
  5. Optionally, click the Labor Assignments check box to export all labor assignment data for the selected project(s). If you select the Labor Assignments data set, the Timescale option appears. You can then click to select a time scale (Days, Weeks, Months) that is used to export the appropriate data sets.

For example, you may want to export labor assignments by days or by weeks or months.

  6. Click the Expenses and Consultants check box to include all expense and consultant data for the selected project(s) for the export.
  7. Click Next to display a list of data columns for each data set that you selected (labor assignments and/or expenses and consultants).
  8. Click the check boxes of each data column that you want to export to the .CSV file. To select all data columns for each set of data, click the Deltek Field check box in the heading row. A project counter appears in the bottom left of the screen to let you know how many projects will be included in the export.
  9. Click the Include headers check box to include headers for all your column selections.
  10. Click Export. DPS adds the new .CSV file as a link to the .CSV File List on the Export Form. Click the .CSV file link to open or save it.
