Create Organization Levels and Specify Label Formats

Use the Key Format utility to create the number of organization levels your enterprise uses, specify the delimiter for the organization code, and specify the length of the organization label.

In addition to the general term "organization," DPS uses labels to describe the categories of subcodes. Examples of labels you can supply include company, region, branch, discipline, and principal. You can change the labels at any time in Settings.

If your company uses multiple companies, you cannot add or change the first level of the organization.

If the Resource Planning module is activated but the Accounting module is not, and you have a variable organization structure, you cannot use this utility to change that structure.

Prerequisite: Back up yourDPS database.

To create organization levels and specify a format:

  1. On the Navigation menu, click Utilities > Key Formats > Organizations.
  2. Complete the fields on the Organization Number Format form.
  3. Review the Sample Value field to see the format as it will be after the key conversion is run.
  4. Click Run.
You can now assign a label to this level.
