Copy a Phase or Task Record

You can copy a project's existing phase and task information to create additional phases and tasks for that project.

If possible duplicate records are detected during this procedure, the Potential Duplicate Records Found dialog box displays. This dialog box lists any existing record that already has the identifier that you are trying to use for a new record.

To copy a phase or task:

  1. From the Navigation menu, click Hubs > Projects.
  2. On the Projects hub form, open the project record for which you will create the phase or task.
  3. Click the Phase/Task icon and use the Phase/Task lookup to open the phase that you want to copy.
  4. Click New and select Copy Current Phase. DPS opens the Create Phase From dialog box. The current project and phase names display on the dialog box.
  5. Complete the remaining fields on the Create Phase From dialog box and click OK. DPS closes the dialog box and copies the phase details into the record. You can modify the phase information.
  6. To copy task information, use the Phase/Task Lookup to open the task that you want to copy.
  7. Click New and select Copy Current Task. DPS opens the Create Task From dialog box. The current project, phase, and task names display on the dialog box.
  8. Complete the remaining fields on the Create Task From dialog box and click OK. DPS closes the dialog box and copies the task details into the record. You can modify the task information.
  9. Click Save.
