If you do not use the Vision Payroll application, or you want to accrue benefits on a different schedule from your payroll schedule, you can determine a separate frequency for benefit accruals. Initiate the accrual manually from the Benefit Hours Accruals Processing form.
Prerequisites: Before you initiate the benefit accrual process, your System Administrator must establish the frequency of benefit accruals by selecting the frequency (Monthly, Semi-monthly, Biweekly, or Weekly) from the
Benefit Accrual Frequency field on the Timesheets tab of the Accounting Configuration form.
To accrue benefit hours manually, complete the following steps:
-
From the Vision Navigation menu, click
.
-
On the Benefit Hours Accruals Processing form, change the accrual date, if necessary.
-
Click
Run.
Vision displays the following prompt:
Would like to print the processing journal after processing is complete?
-
To print the Benefit Hours Processing Journal report, click
Yes; to bypass printing the report, click
No.
You can also print the report by clicking
Print on the toolbar after running the accrual process.
Vision calculates the number of benefit hours accrued for an employee by referring to the
Benefit Accrual Frequency field on the Timesheets tab of the Accounting Company Settings form. This configuration field indicates how often you plan to accrue benefit hours: Monthly, Semi-monthly, Biweekly, Weekly. Vision divides the annual number of benefit hours by the number of times that you plan to accrue benefit hours over the course of the year. If, for example, an employee earns 120 hours of vacation per year and you plan to accrue benefit hours twice a month, Vision divides the 120 hours by 24 and accrues 5 hours each time you process accruals.
