Connect to a Vision Data Cube for the First Time in Excel 2007
Before you create a Vision custom report in Excel 2007, you must first connect to a Vision data cube.
To connect to a Vision data cube, complete the following steps:
- Open Microsoft Excel 2007 and click the Data tab. Enter the result of your step here (optional).
- In the Get External Data group, click From Other Sources, and then click From Analysis Services.
- On the Connect to Database Server page of the Data Connection Wizard, enter the name of the server on which your Vision databases are located.
- Enter the appropriate logon credentials and click Next.

If you purchased the Vision Multilingual module, the English International database file naming convention: Deltek Vision Analysis - <your Vision database name>_en-GB
- Select the Connect to a specific cube or table check box.
- Select a Vision data cube from the list (Project OLAP Cube or General Ledger OLAP Cube) and click Next.
- On the Save Data Connection File and Finish dialog box, enter an easy-to-remember name for this connection and then click Finish.
- On the Import Data dialog box, select the PivotTable Report option and click OK. You now see a blank Excel worksheet. The report layout area is on the left side. The Pivot Table Field List that contains Vision fields to add to a report is on the right side. The connection that you make is automatically saved, so that you can easily reconnect the next time you open Excel.
