Dashboard Tab Fields

The Dashboard tab includes an overview of the top level of your project's dates and core financial information, including start and end dates, client name, project name, number, and manager, and various key multipliers and amounts.

Refer to these fields for a high-level project summary, and use the dashparts for a graphical representation of how these amounts are applied on the project. You can also click on many of the fields and dashparts to view calculations for the various amounts. All of this information can be quickly accessed and used to determine how your project is tracking.

While viewing data on the Dashboard, you can also click the Refresh option at any time to refresh the project data and ensure you are viewing the most accurate information.

The Budget Type option on the Plan Settings dialog box allows you to specify how you want to view the plan's amounts, at billing or at cost. After you make a selection, the Billing or Cost options display on the Dashboard to indicate what you are viewing. If both options display, you can switch between Billing or Cost and the tab's fields, charts, and grids will update to reflect your selection. Note that as you switch between billing and cost, there may be different criteria that display on the chart.

See the Switch Dashboard Amounts from Billing to Cost online help topic for more information.

If your firm uses Vision Multicurrency, the currency in use is indicated next to the Billing and Cost options. For example, Billing (USD) displays if you are viewing the plan at billing and in U.S. dollars. The Project Currency is always used when viewing projects and plans at cost. The currency used when viewing projects and plans at billing is determined by a Vision Configuration setting that your system administrator selects. See the Use Project and Billing Currencies online help topic for more information on currencies.

Note: The Accounting tab in Configuration > Security > Roles determines your access rights to labor costs rates and amounts in Navigator. When you select the Cost option, some information may not display because of your security access. See the Security Settings and Labor Cost Amounts online help topic for more information.
Field Description
Project This field displays the project's identification number and the project's short name, from Vision > Info Center > Project.
Note: Even though the project's long name does not display in Navigator, when you search on a project name, Navigator searches the project number and both the long and short name as entered in Vision.
Client This field displays the name of the primary client associated with the project.
Project Manager This field displays the name of the project manager for the project (WBS1) level.
Contract Start - End This field displays the start and end dates for the project. The dates are based on the Initial Dates: Start and Completion Dates: Estimated fields in the Vision > Info Center > Project. These dates may differ from the dates on the Planning tab because planned dates may be outside the contract date range.
  • If the Initial Dates: Start field in the Vision > Info Center > Project is blank, the field displays the end date.
  • If the Completion Dates: Estimated field in the Vision > Info Center > Project is blank, the field displays the start date.
  • If both dates are blank in the Project Info Center, no dates display.
Contract

This field displays the total contract amount, which is the sum of the Labor + Expense + Consultant amounts.

You can click on the Contract label to see a breakdown of the amount that displays.

Labor Target Multiplier

This multiplier is used as the basis for evaluation against the Labor EAC Multiplier. The multiplier represents how much revenue is anticipated for each labor cost dollar spent on a project. If you are viewing a Vision plan, this field displays the Target Multiplier for Cost on the General tab of Vision > Project Planning. If you are viewing a Navigator plan, this field displays the Target Multiplier that is assigned in Plan Settings. If the project has no plan, no multiplier displays.

Calculation: Target Labor Cost Multiplier for the plan

If a project is mapped to multiple Vision plans that have the Include in utilization and project reports option selected, Navigator shows the target multiplier from the plan with the earliest creation date.

Labor EAC Multiplier

The estimate-at-completion (EAC) labor cost amount is the cost value of the hours worked through today and the remaining planned hours. To determine the multiplier, this calculation is used: Direct Labor from the Budget & Revenue tab in the Vision Project Info Center divided by the EAC Labor.

Your security role's access rights to labor cost rates and amounts determines whether or not labor EAC multipliers display.

Job to Date This field displays the billing and/or cost value of the charges to Direct, Indirect, and Reimbursable labor, expense, and consultant accounts on all posted and unposted transactions and committed purchase orders through today.

You can click on the JTD label to see a breakdown of the amount that displays.

Calculation: JTD = Posted and unposted labor, expenses, and consultants + committed purchase orders + other posted expense charges.
ETC This field displays the total estimate-to-complete (ETC) amount required from tomorrow through the end of the plan to complete the project. ETC amounts at the project level are the sum of ETC amounts calculated at the resource level.

ETC amounts for expenses and consultants are calculated differently, depending on whether the project plan is a Navigator plan or a Vision plan.

Navigator plan:

  • Expenses: If Planned expenses – JTD expenses is greater than 0, then ETC expenses = Planned expenses – JTD expenses. If Planned expenses – JTD expenses is less than or equal to 0, then ETC expenses = 0.
  • Consultants: If Planned consultants – JTD consultants is greater than 0, then ETC consultants = Planned consultants – JTD consultants. If Planned consultants – JTD consultants is less than or equal to 0, then ETC consultants = 0.

Vision plan:

  • Expenses: ETC expenses = Sum of planned expenses from tomorrow forward
  • Consultants: ETC consultants = Sum of planned consultants from tomorrow forward

You can click the ETC label to see a breakdown of the amount that displays.

Note: Expense ETC does not exist when the Expense planning page is hidden. Consultants ETC does not exist when either the Consultant planning page is hidden or it is enabled but you are viewing a promotional or overhead project.

If a project is mapped on multiple Vision plans that have the Include in Utilization and Project Reports option selected, Navigator totals are the combined values.

EAC

This field displays the total estimate-at-completion (EAC) amount required from tomorrow forward through the end of the plan. The total EAC amount is the sum of the labor, expenses, and consultants EAC amounts from their respective Planning pages. You can click the EAC label to see those three EAC amounts that make up the total.

If a project is mapped on multiple Vision plans that have the Include in Utilization and Project Reports option selected, Navigator totals are the combined values.
