Shift Calendar Dates

As plans evolve, you can shift planning dates on the Labor grid work breakdown structure rows. When you shift calendar dates, your plans remain accurate and up-to-date over the course of the project life cycle.

Prerequisites: Calendar dates are defined on the Labor grid. See the Labor Grid Columns online help topic for more information.

To shift calendar dates, complete the following steps:
  1. Change the Start Date for the WBS row. Navigator provides one of the following prompts:
    • If there are assigned resources, Navigator asks if you want to shift the resource hours.
    • If there are no assigned resources, or the assigned resources do not have associated planned or ETC hours, Navigator asks if you want to shift the end date to maintain the same range.
  2. Select one of the following actions:
    Option Description
Yes Click Yes to change the dates. When you shift the resource hours, the number of days between the new start and end dates adjusts to match the original range of days. All associated resource hours shift to match how they were originally assigned. If there are non-working days, the resource hours shift to the next period that contains working days.

If there are no assigned resource rows with planned or ETC hours, the start and end dates shift together to maintain the plan's original range.

Shift the dates and resource hours, when applicable, allows your plans to remain accurate over the course of the project life cycle.

No Click No if you do not want to shift dates. If the new start date occurs before any planned values, the new date remains and the end date and planned values are not changed. You can manually adjust the end date and planned values as needed. If the new start date is after any planned values but before the end date, Navigator displays an error message.
Cancel Click Cancel to cancel all changes.
