View a Project Without a Plan

When you view a project in Navigator that does not have an existing plan, Navigator defaults to displaying the project's amounts at cost or billing based on the default Budget Type that is assigned in Vision's Plan Settings.

The Dashboard and Planning pages display Billing and/or Cost options depending on the Vision Budget Type:

  • Billing: The Billing option displays on the Navigator Dashboard and Planning tabs to indicate the project amounts are shown at billing.
  • Cost: The Cost option displays on the Navigator Dashboard and Planning tabs to indicate the project amounts are shown at cost.
  • Cost and Billing: The Billing and Cost options display on the Navigator Dashboard and Planning tabs. As you select each option, the information on the tab switches between displaying the billing and cost amounts for the project.

After you create a Navigator plan for the project, you can decide how you want to plan the project, at cost, billing, or both. Using the Navigator Plan Settings, you can select the appropriate budget type for your plan. See the Navigator Plan Settings online help topic for more information.

Note: The Accounting tab in Configuration > Security > Roles determines your access rights to labor costs rates and amounts in Navigator. When you select the Cost option, some information may not display because of your security access. See the Security Settings and Labor Cost Amounts online help topic for more information.
