Create a New Opportunity when Qualifying a Contact
When a contact is interested and meets your enterprise's business criteria for qualification and a potential project, you can create a corresponding opportunity record.
This automatically creates a record in the
Opportunities hub so that you can track the
opportunity through the phases of the sales process. The
opportunity is associated automatically to a contact if created during the qualification process.
To create a new opportunity when qualifying a contact:
- In the Navigation pane, go to the Hubs section and select Contacts.
- Use the search field above the contact name to search for and select the contact.
- Locate the Qualified Status field on the Summary pane. As you work with a contact and your relationship evolves, you can change the contact's status to match the process status. When the contact's status is Qualified, the Qualify Contact dialog box displays.
-
On the Qualify
Contact dialog box, select
Create New
Opportunity.
The Add Opportunity dialog box displays. This dialog box includes several data fields that are automatically populated from the contact record. You can edit these fields as needed, and click Save to create the opportunity.
When you create the new opportunity, DPS also creates an empty plan for that opportunity using default settings, so you can immediately begin entering a plan structure and planned labor hours.
-
After completing the qualifying process, click
Done.
- The opportunity is associated with the contact.
- If a firm was also created, the firm is associated with the opportunity as the primary client.
- If a marketing campaign was selected, the opportunity is associated with the marketing campaign.
